I understand that my plot will be assigned after payment is received.
As a plot holder at the Dunwoody Community Garden, I understand and agree to follow these planting and maintenance guidelines:
I agree to plant within 30 days of receiving my plot assignment and cultivate my plot year-round. I understand that if I do not wish to plant a food crop or ornamentals, I must plant a cover crop. I will keep the plot weeded and tended. I agree to harvest or donate ripe produce and mature crops. I will harvest only from my own plot unless given permission by the plot holder. I will avoid letting produce rot or go to waste.
I will keep the area around my plot clear of debris, weeds and overgrown crops. I will plant crops and decorate my plot in a manner that does not unreasonably encroach on another gardener’s space or access to sunlight. I agree to follow the Garden’s composting procedures. I will water wisely and remove all trash from the garden. I understand that the garden is a waste-free zone. I agree to show consideration for fellow gardeners, garden property and the community at large.
If I am temporarily unable to work my plot due to illness, work, etc. I will immediately notify the Board. I will notify the Board immediately if I must permanently abandon my plot for any reason. I understand that the success of longevity of the Dunwoody Community Garden or individual plots cannot be guaranteed.
I agree to follow the organic requirements established by the Garden. I agree to use only organic soil, fertilizer, compost and mulch. I will use organic seeds and transplants whenever possible. I agree that I will not use non-organic herbicides, pesticides, insecticides or fungicides. I agree to use non-toxic materials like wood, cinder or concrete blocks or landscape bricks for a raised bed. I understand and will do my best to fulfill the 12 hours per year volunteer requirement. I acknowledge that the Garden holds workdays as needed and members volunteer time towards general garden upkeep and other Community Garden projects. All of the maintenance and upkeep at DCGO is dependent on these community work requirements.
I am strongly encouraged to donate excess produce from my plot to charity. The Board can give details on how to donate. I understand and will follow these additional guidelines: The Garden operates during the same hours as Brook Run Park (dawn to dusk). Drive and park on paved surfaces only, or on the gravel area East of the fenced Garden. No smoking or use of alcohol. Use language appropriate for a family environment. Pets must remain outside the main Garden fence. Service animals are the only exception. Keep the Garden gates closed. If I am the last one out of the Garden, I will lock the gates.
I, the undersigned member of the Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard at Brook Run hereby agree to hold harmless Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard at Brook Run, its Board of Directors, and owners of the land for any damage, loss, liability, claim, demand, suit, cost and expense directly or indirectly resulting from, arising out of or in connection with the use of the Dunwoody Community Garden and Orchard at Brook Run by the garden group, its successors, assigns, employees, agents and invites.
